Access the Hub
USC has a Data Use and Registration Agreement (DURA) in place with All-of-Us. This grants US affiliated researchers access free, unlimited access to all data sets available in the All of Us Research Hub.
Create your account if you don’t have one
Steps to create an account are also defined here. Following account creation you will obtain an All-of-Us Passport. This is your ticket to accessing your Research Workbench and associated tiers of data.
Step 1. Navigate to this page and click Create an account for users who do not have an account. |
Step 2: You will be directed to the All of Us Research Program Researcher Workbench Terms of Use and Privacy Statement. Please read, understand, and agree to the statement before you continue. |
Step 3: Indicate your institution (University of Southern California), your USC associated email, your role, and your research background and interests. Your name, institution, role, research background/interests, and a link to your professional profile (if available) will be displayed publicly on the the Research Projects Directory of the All of Us website. |
Step 4: You will be prompted to create a new ‘username'@researchallofus.org’ google account which you will use to login to the Workbench. This is a separate account and not related to any personal or professional Google accounts you may have. |
Step 5: Provide your demographic information. Your individual responses will not be displayed on your researcher profile and will only be accessible to a limited number of authorized All of Us personnel. All of Us may externally report de-identified, aggregate data on the demographics of individuals using the Researcher Workbench. |
Step 6: Turn on Google 2 step verification: |
Step 7: Verify your identity by connecting your all-of-us account to your Login.gov account or your ID.me account. To create one of these accounts, you will be required to provide identifying documentation such as a drivers license or passport. |
Step 8. Complete your Trainings (60-90 minutes). You do not have to complete your trainings in one sitting. You can log back in to complete your trainings at a later time. |
Step 9. Sign the Data User Code of Conduct (DUCC). |
Create a separate Chrome profile for your All of Us account
It is recommended for you to create a Chrome Profile with your All of Us Researcher Workbench Google account. This will keep your workbench browser sessions isolated from your other Google accounts.
Your Researcher Workbench account is hosted by Google. This is different and isolated from your personal and professional Google accounts. There are two places during the registration process where you will interface directly with Google:
Google Terms of Service agreement: Because the workbench account is hosted by Google, you will be asked to agree to Google’s Terms of Service agreement.
2-step verification: Setting up 2 step verification on your Workbench account adds an extra level of security to your account.
Log-in to your account if you are already a researcher
Step 1: Sign into your Researcher Workbench account through google. | Step 2: You will be prompted to choose a google account from researchallofus.org. | Step 3: You will be prompted to enter the code sent to a phone number associated with your account.
