Research All of US Hub
This is a general introduction to the Research all of us Platform.
Data in the All of Us Research Hub is stored and accessed in a secure, cloud-based environment, ensuring privacy and data protection for participant information. Researchers do not download data onto their local machines; instead, they work with the data within this secure platform.
The platform provides:
Secure Environment:
All data is made available through the All of Us Research Hub, where access is carefully controlled and monitored. This ensures that only authorized researchers can work with the data, and all activity is logged to maintain security and compliance with privacy regulations.
Cloud Workspace:
Each researcher operates within their cloud workspace, a virtual environment in the cloud that provides computational resources for data analysis. Instead of working on your local machine, all the analysis happens on this cloud server.
Virtual Machine (VM):
When you use an application (such as Jupyter Notebook, RStudio, or SAS), it runs on a Virtual Machine (VM), which is essentially a remote computer in the cloud. The VM is dedicated to your workspace and provides the necessary software and tools for your research tasks.
Applications and Tools:
Inside your cloud workspace, various applications are available, such as Jupyter Notebook for coding in Python or R, SAS Studio for statistical analysis, and SQL tools for querying the database. These applications run within the cloud environment and are used to interact with and analyze the dataset.
No Local Downloading:
Since the data remains within the secure cloud environment, researchers do not download it to their personal devices. Instead, the applications within the cloud allow you to query, process, and analyze data while keeping it secure.
