National Covid Cohort Collaborative (N3C) | NIH
About N3C:
The National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C) is standardized repository of electronic health records from 70+ institutions. It represents the most extensive and inclusive collection of COVID-19 cases and controls in the United States, facilitating the creation of evidence-based predictive and diagnostic tools, and providing insights for critical care and policymaking. The NCATS N3C Data Enclave is the centralized research resource to access the data in a analytical environment where tools and algorithms can be rapidly evaluated. THe enclave has since enabled >3800 users to produce ~250 manuscripts and preprints with a collective h-index of 28 & >3.5K citations.
Goals of N3C:
Accessible Research Data: Facilitate quick and easy access for researchers and clinicians to COVID-19 clinical data to identify effective interventions.
Long-term Resource: Establish a resource to understand the long-term health impact of COVID-19.
Advanced Analytics Platform: Develop a cutting-edge platform for novel analyses to address COVID-19 and potentially other diseases in the future.
Why Use N3C?
Research and Treatment Identification: Enables the clinical and research community to study COVID-19 and explore potential treatments using nationwide data.
Data Harmonization: Coordinates and harmonizes essential data from electronic health records to aid research and patient care.
Rapid Data Collection: Collects clinical, laboratory, and diagnostic data swiftly during the pandemic to enhance disease understanding, clinical trial design, and intervention identification.
Diverse Clinical Data: Aggregates extensive clinical data from diverse populations to support robust data analytics and statistics.
Highly Collaborative Analytics Workstream: Quickly collaborate within your team and across institutions by publishing, sharing and reviewing each others resources such as code templates, data sets, concept sets and other knowledge objects.
Who is N3C?
N3C is a collaborative initiative among:
Health care providers contributing data, including NCATS Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program and NIH's IDeA-CTR-supported institutions.
The National Center for Data to Health (CD2H), which guides and governs the N3C's collaborative science environment.
NCATS, which provides governance, oversight, and a secure research platform — the N3C Data Enclave.
The scientific community and research leaders who harmonize and compare data nationwide.
