Submit a Data Use Request in the Enclave
Starting a New Project: |
---|
1. Navigate to your home page. The link to submit a DUR will be accessible under administrative resources. |
2. Click “Create a New Project” and the form to complete your Data Use Request should pop up on the same page. Provide your project title, abstract, and rational for the project proposal. Your name, institute, project title, and project abstract will be publicly available. |
3. Indicate your domain team that you would like to associate your project with. Learn more about Domain Teams here. You can change this later or check the left box if you’re unsure. |
4. Indicate that you allow other researchers to join your project if you intend to work with a team. Other team members will have to submit their own Data Use Request forms. You can also invite collaborators to join your project directly through the DUR Request used to establish a project proposal. Collaborators will receive an email to submit their own DURs. |
5. Select the level of data you would like to use for your project. Level 2 and Level 3 data will require USC IRB Review prior to submission of the DUR. Please see more here. |

7. Please read and agree to the Data Use Code of Conduct. Check for issues indicating items incomplete before you submit. |
Join an Existing Project: |

1.You can search through existing projects and request to join them. You will be prompted to submit a collaborator DUR request. This will indicate to the owner of that workspace that you would like to join their project. |
2. If someone has added you to their project, you will receive an “Invitation to Submit a Project Collaborator Request” in the My Projects Application which will prompt you to submit a collaborator DUR request. |
3. You will be navigated to DUR submission page for collaborators, where you can review publicly available information about the project you wish to join. |
4. Indicate that you have completed the appropriate trainings for access to your requested data set. |
5. Agree to the Code of Conduct and Download Policy which provides N3C’s terms for using and disseminating the data and results of your analyses. |
6. Upon submission, the project owner will receive your request to join their project. |
Add Collaborators to an Existing Project:
If already indicated in the project lead’s DUR request, a collaborator will have already been emailed a request to submit a collaborator DUR.
