Type 1: Non-Temporal Query: Treat All Groups Independently
On this page, we will go through an example of a non-temporal query where all groups are treated independently (the default type of query). We would like to answer the following study question:
How many female patients were diagnosed with Asthma in 2021?
1. Locate the 'Female' variable by clicking to expand the Demographics folder on the left, then clicking to expand the 'Sex' folder. Click and drag the 'Female' variable into Group 1
2. Next, we will add in the ICD-10 diagnosis code for asthma. Click to expand the 'ACT Diagnoses ICD-10' folder.
3. Click to expand each sub-folder and locate the appropriate ICD-10 code (J45). Click and drag the Asthma variable to Group 2
4. To add a date restriction to the asthma diagnosis, click on 'Dates' on the upper left corner of Group 2.
5. A pop-up will appear. Enter the date range and click OK to apply the date restriction.
6. We are now ready to run our query. Click on 'Run Query'
7. A pop-up will appear. Name your query and select the type(s) of results you are interested in. Number of patients is included by default, as this provides the total patient count. For this example, we are including the count broken down by race. Click OK to run the query.
