How many overweight patients were diagnosed with primary or secondary hypertension at the age of 18-45 years old? |
2. Use the Terms or Find Terms tabs to locate the ICD-10 codes for primary and secondary hypertension. Drag and drop both variables into Group 1.
3. Navigate to ACT Visit Details --> Age at Visit. Drag and drop the folders for 'Visit at ages 18-34 years old' and Visit at ages 35-44 years old'.
Image RemovedImage Added4. Click to expand the folder for 'Visit at ages 45-52 years old.' Drag and drop the variable 'Visit at age 45 years old' to Group 2.
Image RemovedImage Added5. Navigate to the 'Vital Signs' folder. Drag and drop 'Body Mass Index' to Group 3.
Image RemovedImage Added6. A pop-up window will appear where you can specify the Body Mass Index (BMI) value to search for. You have the option to leave this blank to search for patients with any BMI value recorded in their record. For this example, we are interested in patients that are overweight, so we will specify a value >= 25 kg/sq meter
7. We will now specify which Groups should occur in the same encounter and which should be treated independently. Since we are looking for patients that were 18-45 years old at the time of their hypertension diagnosis, Groups 1 & 2 should be set to 'Occurs in Same Encounter'. However, Group 3 should be set to 'Treat Independently.' This is because the BMI value does not need to have been recorded during the same encounter as the hypertension diagnosis; the BMI could have been recorded during a prior or subsequent visit with the provider.
8. Click 'Run Query' to run your query and view the results
