Laboratory Tests

Overview: i2b2 allows users to search for whether a patient has completed a specific laboratory test. Users can also restrict queries to only include patients with specific laboratory test results. You can search for exact lab values, specify a range of values, or search for values greater or less than a specified number.

Laboratory tests are based on the Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC®) universal coding system. Each laboratory test corresponds to a unique LOINC code. More information on the LOINC coding system can be found on the LOINC webpage.

Dates: Laboratory tests in i2b2 are available from 2011 to present

Note that laboratory tests considered sensitive (such as HIV) cannot be queried in i2b2
