Origin of Data: Demographic data is pulled from the patient’s electronic medical record. These are typically self-reported fields.

Dates: Only the patient’s most recently entered (current) demographic data is available in i2b2. Date restrictions cannot be applied to demographic data variables when running queries in i2b2

Patient’s current age in years. For patients 0-36 months old, month-by-month age variables are available.

There is a separate age variable under ‘Visit Details’ that allows you to search for patient’s age at the time of a certain encounter (ex., age at time of a procedure)
